Security

The National Center for Equality and Innovation is so very appreciative for the generous donations that help us continue our valuable work with homeless LGBT+ youth and young adults, and we understand the importance of protecting your personal information.

Please feel confident that giving a tax-deductible donation to the National Center for Equality and Innovation is safe. Credit card information is protected by a reputable security company, and numbers are never stored.

On our donation pages, please make note of the domain name in your website address bar. The name there begins with “https,” which indicates that the page is encrypted. Encryption actually makes your online donation more secure than using a credit card in physical form at a store, restaurant or any other place of business.

If you have any questions regarding the security of online donations, please contact us.

Collection of your Personal Information & Use of your Personal Information

Use of Cookies

The National Center for Equality and Innovation Web site use “cookies” to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize the National Center for Equality and Innovation pages, or register with the National Center for Equality and Innovation site or services, a cookie helps the National Center for Equality and Innovation to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses, and so on. When you return to the same National Center for Equality and Innovation Web site, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the National Center for Equality and Innovation features that you customized.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the National Center for Equality and Innovation services or Web sites you visit.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Security of your Personal Information

The National Center for Equality and Innovation secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. The National Center for Equality and Innovation secures the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other Web sites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
